
Ten St. Joseph companies opened their doors to local students interested in careers in manufacturing on Thursday as a part of the national Manufacturing Day activities. The annual event is held to educate those about to enter the workforce about careers in the industry. About 500 students participated.
According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, manufacturing contributed 12 percent ($50.54 billion) of the 2023 total Gross State Product (GSP). Missouri’s diverse manufacturing industry includes the production of aerospace equipment, automotive products, chemicals, food and beverage, and more. There are more than 8,000 manufacturing establishments in Missouri, employing nearly 290,000 people in the field.
