Police Chief Paul Luster and staff led a discussion about public safety at the Dec. 17 Public Affairs Coffee, presented by Farmers State Bank. The audience learned about new technology the St. Joseph Police Department has to track down criminals (which has been very helpful with property crime cases) and new communication tools to help police neighborhood crime. They also learned about an officer that is dedicated to working with the homeless population and about tools to help protect their businesses from crime.
About 100 members of the business community were in attendance. Many stayed after the presentation to talk with members of the Police Department individually.
