Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Saint Charles Place, a new independent living facility for seniors on Thursday. The facility offers 38 units for low-income residents older than 62.
Saint Charles Place residents have a fully-equipped kitchen, in-home laundry, on-site professional management, a community clubhouse and resident supportive service programs provided by Catholic Charities. The property was previously an apple orchard. The name Saint Charles comes from St. Charles of Borromeo, the patron saint of apple orchards. It is located at 3240 Pear St. For more information call 816-298-4673 or e-mail saintcharlesplace@dalmarkgroup.com.
Bishop James Johnston blessed the facility and leaders from Catholic Charities and Mayor Bill McMurray presided at the ceremony.
