Hillyard Technical Center opened doors to its new simulated manufacturing facility and celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house Tuesday.
The new addition is a 22,000 square foot facility that will house welding, CNC machinery and factory maintenance, where students will learn in a hands-on environment. The expansion is a major win for the St. Joseph community, as it is an example of the business, education and government entities coming together to fill a crucial workforce need. Local manufacturers, including Altec, were a major factor in determining what skills and equipment the facility would educate students about. To learn more about the expansion, see this article.
Earlier this month Hillyard unveiled a newly-renovated health wing at the center, which will allow more students to train in becoming certified nursing assistants.
