The YMCA broke ground on the Mid-America National Aquatic Center today with a large crowd in attendance at the groundbreaking site in front of the YMCA, 3601 N. Village Drive.
The new facility will have a 50-meter Myrtha pool with 10 lanes, depths ranging from 4 to 12 feet and two 1-meter diving boards, which will be a benefit to local swim teams. The facility also will offer water aerobics, swim lessons, recreational swimming and more.
The event featured students from the St. Joseph and Savannah school districts, local elected officials, YMCA officials and fundraisers for the project. To learn more, see this site.
