With minutes to spare before the 5 p.m. deadline, the holder of ticket number 1169170 came forward to claim the $10,000 grand prize Thursday. A check presentation will be held at Albright Buick GMC Cadillac 8:30 Friday morning. A more detailed press release will be given at that time.
Certified public accountants provided oversight of the program. About 2 million tickets were distributed this year through the 132 participating merchants. This is up from 59 merchants in 2007.
This is the 13th year for the local holiday shopping program. The program’s goal is to keep holiday spending in the local economy, so sales tax collected goes back into helping St. Joseph and Buchanan County projects. Shop St. Joseph is presented by News-Press NOW.
