The Buchanan County EMS held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of Post 3 located at 312 West Colorado on the south side of town in the former St. Joe Brick building.
The Buchanan County EMS started operations on July 1, 2014. Currently, it operates with five ALS ambulances during the day and four ALS ambulances during the night.
It staffs both paramedics and EMTs on ambulances and dispatches its own ambulances from Post 1 Headquarters located at 5010 Frederick Ave. All dispatchers are EMDs, paramedics or EMTs. Post 2 is located at 817 S. 10th St.
The Buchanan County EMS provides EMS/ambulance coverage for Buchanan County, Mo., and a small portion of Northeast Doniphan County, Kan. This includes the cities of Saint Joseph, Mo., Faucett, Mo., DeKalb, Mo., Rushville, Mo., Agency, Mo. and Elwood, Kan.
