New Heartland CEO announced
Heartland Health officials have named Dr. Mark Laney as the incoming president and CEO of the St. Joseph health system. The Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome Dr. Laney to the community. The Chamber also congratulates Lowell Kruse on his success in the position and wishes him well in his retirement. Dr. Laney presently serves as president of Cook Children's Physician Network in Fort Worth, Texas. About 200 excited St. Joseph residents and officials gathered on a beautiful June day at Missouri Western State University to watch the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Kansas City Chiefs training camp facility. Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, Senate President Pro Tem Charlie Shields, Western President Dr. Robert Vartabedian and Chiefs President Denny Thum were among those who spoke at the ceremony before grabbing their shovels. “You are getting a huge enhancement to your campus,” Mr. Kinder said. “And we’re bringing traffic back to the state.” For
the last 19 years the Chiefs have trained in River Falls, Wisc. Both
Mr. Shields and Mr. Thum got a standing ovation from the crowd. Mr.
Shields said being the summer home to the Kansas City Chiefs will be
“our new icon.” To
