As the Director of the St. Joseph Community Alliance, Tama Wagner helps promote a shared vision for the future of St. Joseph with the group’s partners. The partners include: Buchanan County, Missouri Western State University, Mosaic Life Care, the Chamber of Commerce, the City of St. Joseph, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the St. Joseph School District and the United Way of Greater St. Joseph. The Community Alliance is responsible for shepherding the Imagine St. Joseph 2040 plan, governmental relations/advocacy and community surveying.
Wagner brings 30 years of experience in journalism, politics, state government, marketing, market research, strategic planning and community engagement to this role. Before joining the Community Alliance in March 2019, Wagner helped develop marketing strategies for LifeLine Foods, LLC., St. Joseph, spent 16 years in healthcare marketing and leadership in St. Joseph and Kansas City, and served a political staff member to two statewide office holders in Topeka, Kan.
Wagner holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS., and a Master of Business Administration from Baker University, Baldwin City, KS.
Wagner currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Center, A Samaritan Center; she is a fellow of the Healthcare Advisory Board and a past recipient of the St. Joseph YWCA Women of Excellence Award for a Woman in the Workplace.
Wagner, and her husband Kevin, live in St. Joseph. They have two adult children and eight grandchildren.
